Our client, a family owned US leader in the speciality chemicals and engineered materials industries is seeking an experienced senior electrical engineer to act as a regional SME for their plants across Arkansas, Illinois and Georgia.

This position supports the CAPEX Project Team as well as the Operations Team in identifying, scoping out, planning and executing electrical projects. The electrical projects include undertakings such as infrastructure upgrades, capacity expansions and new installations. The Sr. Electrical Engineer also acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for the business and helps the Operations Team in troubleshooting serious electrical issues and identifying best practices for electrical operations and maintenance.

This is a multi-site position, responsible for four production facilities in North America: Bauxite, AR – Fairmount, GA – Kennesaw, GA and Marblehead, IL.

Role duties:

  • Responsible for identifying, developing and managing electrical projects. Working with vendors and electrical contractors, ensuring projects are executed on time, on budget and according to pre-determined scope.
  • Identifies shortcomings in electrical infrastructure and works with equipment vendors to develop capital projects to carry out the necessary replacements or upgrades.
  • Develops and maintains a 5 year plan for electrical capital projects with cost estimates.
  • Responsible for organizing, renewing and interpreting the results of arc flash studies, as well as making recommendations as a result of the studies for electrical safety.
  • Supports all capital projects to meet electrical engineering requirements. Helps project engineers, process engineers and technical managers with electrical portions of their project proposals.
  • Works with electrical supervisors to revise drawings and improve designs and develop trouble shooting and safety operational procedures.
  • Sets standards and best practices for the electrical systems.
  • Participates in Kaizen improvements and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) studies to improve equipment reliability, reduce failures, improve equipment operation and reduce cost.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental standards and policies are followed when designing equipment or making process changes.
  • Required travel is around 25%

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience and/or training
  • Must have a broad understanding and capability to supervise or help design within high voltage power systems, low voltage power systems and electrical safety
  • Project management experience and contract management systems knowledge
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office
